So I got my new stash of tee-shirts and sweat shirts in and I had one made just for my nephew Alex. So today being the beautiful spring day that it is I had my nephew wear it while I photographed him. He’s such a cutie!

International Gem & Jewelry Show

One of my favorite events is coming up this weekend and that is the International Gem & Jewelry Show! Ever since I was 7 years old my mother would take me to the shows with her and her friends, it was such an experience to take  the Metro down to D.C.  and go to the convention center where we would walk down aisle after aisle of brightly lit jewelry. Gold, silver, platinum, estate jewelry, wholesale, retail, loose beads, loose gems, custom made, repair, and of course costume jewelry all can be found plus so much more. Twenty years later my mother and I are pro’s! We pack 2 pairs of shoes, our tickets are filled out,  we have our list of things we “need”, we unload or purses to the bare minimum and we bring along a tote with a bottled water. We where layers, and have lots of small bills, we walk in there like we own the place and head straight back to the wholesale where we make our rounds to the usual vendors who we know have the best prices, we then head down, we set a time where we meet if we get lost, and we have our cell phones on, after the show we head to a local restaurant where we each layout all our goodies and  talk about what a deal we got on them.  Below I have listed all the details for this upcoming show… Hope to see you there!

Do you need ribbon?

One of my favorite places to shop around this area is the Berwick Offray Ribbon Outlet. And when I say outlet I mean this is a real outlet with real outlet prices! Just before the snowfall I made a trip in to see what the latest a greatest was. When you step foot in this place you never know what you may find or how many bags you will schlep out with. I personally bought 3 stuffed grocery bags of ribbon $1 each, 3 pirates hat $.39, and 2 parrots $.50 each (I know kids).

Only sixty-five miles north of Washington it’s one of the nation’s biggest ribbon factories. The operation came to Hagerstown in 1922, begun by a family with experience in ribbonmaking dating to 19th-century France. I’m telling you, you can find bins and boxes overflowing with discontinued styles, overstocks and seconds: ice blue with brown polka dots, violet double-faced satins, grosgrains, taffetas and woven plaids, some for as little as 25 cents a yard or 10 cents a roll.

Getting in the Christmas sprit

There are two places on that I found that know how to decorate for the Holidays, Williamsburg VA and NYC! While up in New York, we mad a trip to 5th ave. to see all the window displays. My personal favorite is the Bergdorf Goodman window’s, when I was up there last year my mouth dropped with amazement and this year did the same. I would like to know the artist behind these windows because so much detail & work went into these 10 or more windows here are just a few photo’s
